Name of Scholarship: Incorporated Village of Malverne John F. Norris Scholarship

Description/Requirements: A $4,000 scholarship in honor of John F. Norris is available for students planning to study Communications in college.

The selection criteria for the scholarship are as follows:

·       Applicant must be a resident of the Incorporated Village of Malverne

·       Applicant must have a GPA of 85 through grade 11

·       Applicant must provide a letter of recommendation from a guidance counselor & media teacher, indicating the student’s interest & participation in the study of media.

·       Applicant must provide a copy of an acceptance letter from a college that offers a media program. Please be aware that many colleges do not allow a freshman to declare a major until their sophomore year.

·       Applicant must maintain a 2.0 or C overall average while enrolled in college.

Name of Scholarship: Adelphi University Dorothea Deitz Memorial Scholarship

Description/Requirements: Adelphi University’s, Department of Exercise Science, Health Studies, Physical Education & Sport Management is once again soliciting applications for a scholarship stipend of approximately $5,000 for an incoming freshman female student who wishes to become a physical education teacher. This is a memorial to Dorothea Deitz, an outstanding teacher, supervisor & director of physical education.

Criteria

Students must have strong leadership skills, commitment to service in community & school, & high academic standing as determined by SAT, GPA & class standing.

Description/Requirements:

·       Applicant must be a resident of the Incorporated Village of Malverne

·       Applicant must be a high school senior, in good academic standing

Name of Scholarship: Redfin Scholarship

Description/Requirements: Redfin is the next-generation real estate brokerage, combining its own full-service agents with modern technology to redefine real estate in the customer's favor. This $2,500 scholarship is a way for Redfin to help one student on his or her journey through higher education. We are looking forward to reading each submission! Description/Requirements: CGTrader is the largest 3D model marketplace backed by the strong designer community of more than 500k members. Name of Scholarship: Excelsior Scholarship

Under this groundbreaking program, more than 940,000 middle-class families and individuals making up to $125,000 per year will qualify to attend college tuition-free at all CUNY and SUNY two- and four-year colleges in New York State. The new program begins in the fall of 2017 and will be phased in over three years, beginning for New Yorkers making up to $100,000 annually in the fall of 2017, increasing to $110,000 in 2018, and reaching $125,000 in 2019.

Description/Requirements: Two scholarship awards available to graduating HS seniors. A candidate must be of Irish-American ancestry and submit completed application. Name of Scholarship: Gift of Sight – Order Sons of Italy in America NY Grand Lodge Foundation, Inc.

Description/Requirements: Once a year, the Gift of Sight presents a special scholarship grant to a HS graduating student, who is legally blind or visually impaired. The award criteria are that the applicant must be a current HS graduate of Italian descent who will begin FT undergraduate study in the fall.

Name of Scholarship: Ocean Financial Federal Credit Union – The Patrick McNeill Memorial Scholarship

Description/Requirements: Ocean Financial Federal Credit Union offers college-bound high school seniors the opportunity to compete for the Patrick McNeill Memorial Scholarship. As a volunteer during the early years of the Credit Union, Pat McNeill dedicated his time and energy to serve others. Mr. McNeill was an original director of the credit union in 1969 and served on the Board of Directors for 12 years, three as President. Four scholarships in the amount of $1,500 each are awarded. Name of Scholarship: Nursing School Almanac 3rd Annual Aspiring Nurse Scholarship

Name of Scholarship: Tri-County Independent Insurance Agents Association Scholarships

Description/Requirements:

The Joel S. Pollack Memorial Scholarship – On Memorial Day weekend in 1998, a drunk driver tragically killed one of our esteemed members. Joel was 35 years of age & was a highly regarded member of our industry & believed strongly in continuing education. Tri-County established an educational scholarship of $1,000 in his honor to assist a graduating HS senior in furthering his or her education.

The Stephen T. Dooley Community Service Scholarship – Steve was a major influence in the formation of the Tri-County Association. He was president of our organization, a highly respected insurance professional & very active in his community, mostly as a volunteer in charity & youth activities. Steve died from cancer in February 2005 & we thought there was no finer way to honor him than to establish an ongoing scholarship in his memory in the areas he cherished & worked so hard in. A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a HS graduate who has shown exemplary community service, to be used towards college expenses.

Name of Scholarship: The 2017 Facing History Together Student Essay Contest

Description/Requirements: A check in the amount of $2,000 will be awarded to one or more graduating Nassau or Suffolk County HS seniors chosen on the basis of involvement in & service to the Long Island running community. Description/Requirements: This program is open to academically talented U.S. Citizens from ethnic and racial backgrounds that have been historically underrepresented in US higher education.

Description/Requirements: Offers the students opportunities to travel to Europe, to attend seminars and the opportunity to take 18 credits for full-time tuition without additional cost, day excursions to the U.N along with lectures from UN Staff, along with concerts, operas and museum visits. Name of Scholarship: NYS STEM Incentive Program

Description/Requirements: The NYS STEM Incentive Program provides a full SUNY tuition scholarship to the top 10 percent of students in each NYS high school if they pursue a STEM degree in an associate’s or bachelor’s degree program and agree to live in NYS and work in a STEM field in NYS for five years after graduation.

An applicant must:

·       be a NYS resident and have resided in NYS for 12 continuous months prior to the beginning of the fall college term;

·       be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen;

·       be a high school senior/recent high school graduate who will be enrolled full time at a SUNY or CUNY college, including community colleges and the statutory colleges at Cornell University and Alfred University, beginning in the fall term following his or her high school graduation;

·       be ranked in the top 10 percent of his/her high school graduating class at a NYS high school;

·       be matriculated in an approved undergraduate program leading to a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics at a SUNY or CUNY college;

·       earn a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher each term after the first semester;
